Opening Conference 2022

The 2022 Opening Conference took place on Monday, October 3 at the SwissTech Convention Center.

This year, the EPFL Forum has the great honor to welcome Ghislain Bardout, explorer, founder and director of Under The Pole, Michel Masquelier, former president of IMG Media and author, and Olivier Glauser, former venture capitalist turned entrepreneur, today president of Cellap Laboratoire SA.

In the form of a round table discussion moderated by DanRam, 5x TEDx speaker & Public Speaking Coach, the guests were invited to discuss the following theme: “How failures made me who I am”.

Opening Conference 2021

The 2021 Opening Conference will take place on Monday, October 4 at 6:00 pm at the SwissTech Convention Center. The theme will be “How can engineers be leaders in the transformation of our society“.

We will be honored to welcome Mr. Robert Mardini, General Director of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Ms. Leila Schwery-Bou-Diab, Vice-President at Janssen and Ms. Sonia Seneviratne, Professor at ETH in climatology and member of the IPCC.

This will be an opportunity to understand their struggles in humanitarian, health and climate issues and how we, as engineering students, can have a positive impact on the world. The conference will also be live-streamed on our website.

Opening Conference 2020

We had the pleasure of welcoming Edouard Bugnion, our Vice-President for Information Systems, to open the week of the Forum EPFL 2020.

The lecture “Flying away from EPFL”, given in French, was followed by the EPFL public at the SwissTech Convention Center.

Opening Conference 2019

On Monday October 7, 2019, the Forum EPFL had the pleasure to welcome Yvan Bourgnon (second from the left, Navigator and initiator of the Manta – The SeaCleaners project), Raphaël Domjan (second from the right, Eco-adventurer, pilot and initiator of the SolarStratos project), Christophe Frei (very right, General Secretary of the Work Energy Council) and Davor Kosanic (very left, Tech4Impact EPFL project collaborator) in the SwissTech Convention Center for a fascinating conference on engineering and climate.

Opening Conference 2018

Last year’s speaker was the well-known jetpack pilot Yves Rossy (aka Jetman). Famous for his invention of a flying wing and impressive in-air stunts, he discussed determination and achieving personal goals with an audience of students, professors, company representatives, alumni and school officials.
